About Chris Buckner
Chris Buckner is a proud native of Knoxville, Tennessee, but he now lives in New York City. Chris attended the University of Tennessee-Knoxville after graduating from high school, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Public Relations. The University of Tennessee, informally known as Tennessee’s university, is the state’s premier public research institution. In addition to its strong curriculum, the school also touts 225 years of community involvement in Tennessee and beyond. Through research and engagement programs, the university’s Space and Agricultural institutes have a long tradition of teaching locals and tourists and making a difference in people’s lives.
After college, Chris spent years as a columnist for Metropulse, a partner of the Association of Alternative Newsmedia (AAN). Chris used this platform to promote alternative media via advocacy and education. Chris featured local artists in his weekly lifestyle piece, in which he discussed museum exhibitions and promoted up-and-coming bands.
